Lauren Wilson has been crafting poetry and prose intermittently for over four decades, starting with a poignant series of poems dedicated to a cousin who tragically passed away at the age of 19. Her creative process is driven by a muse, an inner voice that compels her to articulate thoughts and emotions through words. Beyond her literary pursuits, Lauren leverages her engineering expertise as a safety consultant, evaluating machinery and robotics for installation in the semiconductor industry and North American manufacturing sites. She shares her life with her husband, Howard Wilson, and their beloved dog, Petey. The couple also cherishes their five nieces, who bring immense joy and fulfilment to their lives. In her leisure time, Lauren indulges in historical mysteries, first contact science fiction, women’s fantasy, and classic African-American literature.
She is also passionately engaged in constructing and decorating a five-storey dollhouse, complete with seven apartments, nine bathrooms, an office, a laundry room, and a grand foyer adorned with African-American art. Annually, she hosts a ‘King Thing’ to celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday and dedicates Black History Month to researching and sharing insights on various topics, such as poetry, civil rights, and notable African-American figures. This year, she created four Jeopardy boards to honour the occasion. Since 2004, Lauren has been a proud member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc.
